6 Grade Curriculum at a Glance

We will instruct, practice, assess and report the following common learning targets/skills. Students will receive feedback on these skills and we will track and report progress through JumpRope:


Cooperative Learning: I can exhibit responsible social behaviors and cooperate with classmates.

Habits of Learning:  I can actively listen and follow directions without disturbing others. 

Safety:  I can move and use equipment safely in physical activity settings.

In addition to continued work on Trimester 1 skills, we will add:

Motor skills: I can demonstrate competency in a variety of motor skills and movement patterns.

Movement Patterns: I can apply the knowledge of concepts, principles, strategies and tactics related to movement and performance in a variety of activities.

Personal Wellness: I can demonstrate the knowledge and skills to achieve and maintain a health enhancing level of physical activity and fitness. 
In addition to continued work on Trimester 1  and 2 skills, we will add:

Personal Wellness: My positive attitude and active participation demonstrates that I value physical activity for my personal health and well being.















We will use the following content/units to work on the above skills:
  • Cooperative activities
  • Ultimate style games 
  • Invasion games
  • Lifetime activities - biking
  •  Fall Fitnessgram






  • Wellness goal setting
  • Jump rope 
  • Speed stacking
  • 4 Categories of games: invasion, striking/ fielding, target, net/wall
  • Lifetime activities- Cross Country Skiing 
  • Wellness goal monitoring
  • Spring Fitnessgram
  • Net Games- volleyball, tennis, Badminton
  • Target Games- Disc golf, kornhole, kan jam, etc. 
In addition to the above, we will instruct, practice, and assess many other important skills and habits of learning. We may not regularly report out about these, but as they are vital for ongoing success, we will monitor and communicate them as necessary. Here are some of these foundational skills and habits:

Fitness Planning / Assessing 
Self Direction : Active Participation Choice Activities 
Goal Setting/ Monitoring Progress 
Motor Skills/ Movement Patterns
Application of Strategies and tactics 
Taking Responsibility for learning
