Stick Handling and Mini Games!

6th and 7th grade students are working on mastering stick handling by using the proper grip, keeping their head up, using both sides of the stick and keeping the puck in control. 8th grade students are taking skills learned and are applying them to a game like setting. They are working on creating space, communicating with teammates and accurately passing to one another under pressure. 

Middle School Students work on manipulative skills and gain knowledge of strategies and tactics related to floor hockey.

Middle school students are engaging in a mini floor hockey unit. Although, some skills are new to some all have demonstrated a growth mindset when beginning to master new skills. Many students were able to  generate connections between skills learned in floor hockey and similar tactics and principles in other sports. They are able to use these connection to solve tactical problems that arise during game play! Way to go middle school scholars! 
 

Middle School scholars wrap up their fitness unit with some fun games.

Students ended their fitness unit with two games that worked on cooperation and fitness components in a non traditional way. Student were engaged in many different skills to highlight some of their strengths. They had opportunities to work on throwing, scooting for lower body, fitness exercises, and cardio respiratory endurance all in a motivating game.
