Winter months in Middle Level PE!

5th/ 6th- This winter 5/6th graders are learning the foundations of cross country skiing. They are learning basic skills needed, winter safety, and have the opportunity to get outside and ski. When they are not skiing 5th grade has been working on basketball skills and 6th grade is learning a new game Tchoukball! 

7th- Students are creating their own movement routines. They are tasked with working with a group to come up with a 2 minute routines that fulfills all of the requirements. Students have done a great job working together and getting out of their comfort zone. 

8th grade- Students are playing games in 4 different categories: target, invasion, net/wall, and striking and fielding. After they have learned some new games their task is to create their own game that they will teacher to younger students. 


 
 
 
 


December in PE

5th grade: Students used their throwing and catching skills in a team handball unit. They played a variety of different lead up games and They worked on being a good teammate and transitioning from offense to defense. 




6th: They worked on pillow polo skills. Students worked on stick handing, passing, shooting and progressed to game play. 

7th/ 8th: Students revised and perfected previously learned floor hockey skills. Students learned more rules of the game and focused on safe play and dynamic game play. 

November in Middle level PE

Middle level students spent the month of November working on their personal fitness. They focused on 4 different components of Fitness: Muscular Strength, Muscular endurance, Cardio respiratory endurance and flexibility. They all completed the fall fitness gram for each component. 5-7 graders set wellness goals around their score that they will continue to monitor and reassess in the Spring. 8th grade began developing wellness plans centered around the FITT principle. They developed personal daily work out that included Frequency of work out, intensity, time or length of session, and type of exercise.

Bike Safety and Intro To Fitness

Middle Level students started their Fitness Unit with a mini unit on Bike Safety. Students learned the basics of bike safety, maintenance and worked on their cardio respiratory endurance. Students are also preparing for fall fitness gram by working on all 4 fitness components. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Back to School in Middle Level PE

Middle School Students have been off to an active start! This year 5-8 students started off the year learning new skills and advanced to different types of teams games. 

5th Grade : Cooperative Learning and Moving Safely
6th Grade : Ultimate Handball

 

7th Grade : Frisbee Skills/ Ultimate


 8th Grade: Football Skills

Welcome Back to P.E!

Welcome back SCS students! We are all so excited to get moving and learning with all of you this school year! Please remember to wear appropriate footwear and attire for your P.E days (sneakers, closed toe shoes, clothes for physical activity). We can't wait for you all to get started learning and improving your skills in our classes!
