7th Graders completed their creative movement unit with some exemplar movement sequences. Students were asked to include the following in their routine:
3 Level Changes: low, middle, high
At least one piece of equipment
2 rolls - log, pencil, forward, backward
2 turns- twist, jump turn, spin
5 different moves
2 exercises - high knees, opposite elbow/ opposite knee
This month 8th graders are working on manipulative skills and strategies and tactics through different games such as team handball and speed ball. 7th graders are showing their appreciation for lifelong physical activity through a creative dance unit. 6th graders are working on hand eye coordination and crossing the mid line during their "Speed stacking" Unit. 6th and 7th grade students are working on mastering stick handling by using the proper grip, keeping their head up, using both sides of the stick and keeping the puck in control. 8th grade students are taking skills learned and are applying them to a game like setting. They are working on creating space, communicating with teammates and accurately passing to one another under pressure.
Middle school students are engaging in a mini floor hockey unit. Although, some skills are new to some all have demonstrated a growth mindset when beginning to master new skills. Many students were able to generate connections between skills learned in floor hockey and similar tactics and principles in other sports. They are able to use these connection to solve tactical problems that arise during game play! Way to go middle school scholars!
Students ended their fitness unit with two games that worked on cooperation and fitness components in a non traditional way. Student were engaged in many different skills to highlight some of their strengths. They had opportunities to work on throwing, scooting for lower body, fitness exercises, and cardio respiratory endurance all in a motivating game.
Middle school students are finishing up their fitness unit. Today they had a chance to work on all four fitness components in a circuit style training.
The Physical Education Department and their students have been spending the fall working on endurance and perseverance. The physically literate student recognizes the value of physical activity for health, challenge, enjoyment and/or social interaction.

Middle School scholars have began their fitness unit. They are preparing for fitness gram testing and creating personal fitness goals! Below are some pictures of students working hard to improve fitness and having fun in the process!

This week in middle school PE students began with a lead up game of satellites. Students worked in teams to try and hit the other teams targets and could rebuild their own only after catching the ball or making a basket. During there second class, we advanced to playing with 4 teams. It added a new challenge to the game and it was great to see how scholars adjusted their play to a new setting!
This week in PE kindergartners are exploring fitness and balancing using a variety of equipment!
This week middle school scholars continued to focus on cooperative games. They completed different challenges by collaborating effectively and respectfully with classmates. We also started with some invasion games where we revisited offensive and defensive strategies and tactics!
